Full New Year's Eve Trailer

Katherine gets tough!

Fans are used to seeing her play the female lead in countless romantic comedies, but for her next film Katherine Heigl has left that stereotype behind.

The first official trailer of One For The Money has been released and shows the 32-year-old actress take on the persona of the heroic fictional character Stephanie Plum.

Knocked Up star Heigl stars as the ex-lingerie buyer that finds herself out of a job following a divorce, and takes on the role of a bounty hunter.
The movie, which is set to be released in January next year, is based on the 1994 novel of the same name, written by author Janet Evanovich.
The story unfolds after Plum caves under pressure from her mother to find a new job.

Plum goes to her cousin, Vinnie, who is a bail bondman for some filing work and on arrival, Vinnie’s assistant, Connie, tells her that the filing position has been filled.
However, the brunette is told about apprehending people who skip out on their bonds and is shown a file of Joseph Morelli.

Played by Jason O'Mara, Morelli is a vice cop who is wanted for murder, but has a history with Plum that includes two sexual encounters in high school and a hit-and-run when he didn’t call her afterwards.
Branding a gun and a flirty smile, the film takes Plum on a complicated trail of Morelli and she finds herself determined to get him.

With a subtle hint of Heigl's previous loved-up roles, the film focuses on her relationship with her past squeeze, but the former Gray's Anatomy star proves she's not certainly not typecast for just the ditzy blonde roles.

Evanovich, 68, has claimed that the inspiration for Plum's character came after watching Midnight Run starring Charles Grodin and Robert De Niro.
Heigl gets the chance to show off her edgier side in the highly anticipated film, whilst still playing the likeable female lead.

Plum has appeared in seventeen full-length novels, four holiday novellas, and a short story in a compilation of various authors, and has become more stable and responsible, and a better bounty hunter as the series has progressed.
It is unsure whether more films will continue to be made to fulfil fans love of the popular novels - but chances are they're going to love Heigl in the debut film of the series.
